In Fond Du Lac Wisconsin a 2 year old toddler was dragged by a car after trying to cross a street with her mother, an 88 year old women struck her. This is why old people need to loose their lisence at a certain age!http://www.fox6now.com/news/witi-100204-toddler-dragged,0,4636964.story

A man fell into a grain bin for over eight hours in farmington minnesota.

I couldn't imagine how scary that must have been for him.

A 26 year old woman in Shelton Conneticut died while giving birth to her 3 triplets. She was unaware that she was pregnant so she bled to death in her home.
I think this is really sad, but i don't understand how she couldn't have known she was pregnant with triplets

Delta Air Lines bought Northwest Airlines in a $3.6bn deal that will create the world's largest airline and is likely to trigger a wave of consolidation across the industry. I think it's kind of exciting that they are making a big airline out of the two.

At a Riverdale Maryland crematorium 40 bodies were found stacked in a garage by the crematorium. They decided to give the grieving families wood ash instead of their own loved family members ashes to save money. The bodies would be transportated to the crematorium owners family land and dumped into a landfill. This story is super creepy, I couldn't imagine loosing a family member and then later finding out that what i thought had been their ashes really weren't. I would be so upset.

At Time Square in New York City Faiszal Shahzad who came to the United States in 1998 tried to bomb the whole block using a car. It's so lucky that that bomb didn't go off, so many people would have been killed or hurt.

current events croc killer

Lauren Failla was killed last week in India while swimming on vacation with her boyfriend. There was a lifeguard on duty but it happened so fast that nothing could be done. Out of the 24 attacks at that beach 4 have been fatal. I think it would suck a lot more to be attacked by a croc than a shark, this is a really sad story.

current events blog 5/7/10 lord jesus christ

In Massachusetts a 20 year old women ran over a 50 year old man named "Lord Jesus Christ", he was sent to the hospital for minor facial injuries. I think that would be insane to run someone over, and even more insane to hit someone with the name Lord Jesus Christ.

Issue #1 All Things Being Unequal

More money is going to rich than the poor. There is a shift in who controls money. A smaller percentage of people have money, there is a larger increase in the gap of lower income wages vs higher income wages. lower income people are not getting enough of a raise for keeping up with the higher costs of living, inflation and necessities. Lower income families don't have as much money as they use to.

The concept is good, but the rich fill their own pockets. I think there should be limits on what corporations pay their executives and there should be less taxes for all because that makes a better economy and the more social programs we have the bigger government gets which strains the economy in creating new jobs. Obama would like to tax the rich.

President is trying to get rid of the ban for off-shore drilling on the Gulf of Mexico and Virginia. Doing this will lower gas prices in a few months. I like the idea of this because in the summer i travel a lot and the price will drop as much as 50 cents.

current events obama afganistan

A few days ago President Obama went to the middle east and talked to the President of Afganistan about issues in Afganistan, after he was done he went to a Marine base and when the marines came back one man was really offended when he saw Obama because he thought it was someone trying to fool them and after he found out it was actually Obama he felt really bad for yelling and swearing at him. I think it's kind of funny and i feel bad for that guy because he probably feels really stupid now.

The other day a comic book--the first comic book where Superman is introduced sold for 1.5 million dollars. That is crazy! I think if someone has that much money to waste on comic books they should find something better to do with it like giving it to people who don't even have enough money to eat.

Current Events- Legalizing it

The state of California is going to pass a bill that will legalize the use of marijuana, because if they do this they can get more money on taxes and such. I think it's dumb that they are doing this but it's not that big of a deal either because a lot of people use it already and it doesn't kill you.

Current Events MOA

The other night a 21 year old man, (whose name has not yet been released)--either jumped, fell or was pushed from the fourth floor in the Mall Of America. In the past three weeks at the Mall Of America 3 people have died there either by suicide or accident. Finding this out i'm a little weary of going to Mall Of America. It kind of creeps me out..and it's also really sad.

Healthcare Blog

Tuesday, March 23rd President Obama signed the Healthcare Reform Bill, which basically is universal healthcare. It obviously passed senate/house just fine, but after he signed they checked it over again and realized that there were a couple parts that were illegal so now they have to send it all the way through the house and senate to be passed again, so who knows it the bill will actually be passed again?!

Current Events Infantino

There's a baby sling called "Infantino" that mothers use to carry their infants in that has suffocated over 30 babies. I think this is ridiculous...the baby slings should have been tested over and over again to make sure that they were safe for the helpless babies. I also think that the mothers should've check their babies more often just because it's what you do when you have a baby. I believe it is the producers of the slings fault for not checking the slings better but the parents could've checked on their infants too.

Issue 2 - Spending What We Can't Afford

An issue that we have in the United States is the government spending the money that we definitely don't have. Spending money that we don't have is an example of Budget Deficit.

When we have a budget deficit we then need to borrow money which means we've gotten ourselves into debt it causes a lot of stress to everyone. Our current national debt is thought to be around 12,413,568,446,179.90 and increases about 3.88 billion dollars per day. Problems with debt makes our money less valuable in other countries because we have to borrow money from other countries. The paygo rule is a pay as you go rule, the government shouldn't spend more money then they take in in taxes.

I think paygo is a good rule because the deficit wouldn't go up and we wouldn't be going more and more into debt every year like we are now. I think the government wont balance the budget each year because the budget right now is more than what they take in and it always seems that there are more and more programs that they want to take in or try (healthcare, schools, roadways etc.) I think the government should cut the budget on everything and attempt to balance the budget. The money that they collect each year from our taxes is insane! There should be no way that we can still be in debt this deep after all of that money is collected.

current events 8/10 free

Yesterday eight out of the ten Americans that were arrested for kidnapping and smuggling 33 Haiti orphans to the dominican border were released. The parents of the children told authority that they gave the missonaries permission to take the children, they were only trying to help the children and most of them didn't have parents at all. I think that what they were trying to do was OKAY because a lot of people here in America are looking to adopt anyways, why keep them alone and hungry without a family when they can be here?

Suicide Bombing in Kabul
Last night at 9 P.M a man dressed in a Afgan police uniform came in the sleeping area of a U.S army base and bombed the place. Five U.S soliders were critically injured nobody was killed. There wasn't any warning of any kind, the man was at the base before and it was usual to see him around.
I think the bombing was extremely sad, but it's very good to hear that nobody was killed

CURRENT EVENTS BLOG

The State of the Union Address
President Barack Obama spoke last night in Washington mainly about unemployment here in the United States, and how it will be his main focus this year. He also talked about taxing small businesses so eliminating capital gains taxes will provide a tax incentive for businesses. Obama spoke lightly about health care and asked for a "reset", because he realizes that he made mistakes, like everyone. I think that he made a good speech and it made me happy that he realizes that he made mistakes and wants to fix them. I'm happy that he decided to lower the taxes.
